The #4 Big Ten upset of #1 Hawks seems surprising unless you’ve been paying attention to the scores the Big Ten has put up vs the top 3 seeds. They may be ranked 4 but except for 2 baskets this year they could be ranked #1 right now. Regardless, the Hawks fly into the tournament as the #1 seed. The #2 Yellow Jackets buzzed through the #3 Springboro Sky in week #6 and that gives them the edge on the 6-2 tie. The #5 Lady Liberty took advantage of the #6 Huskies loss to the Yellow Jackets to tie up their records at 3-5. Since the Liberty won the head to head matchup vs the Huskies on Jan 27 the Liberty take the edge on the tie breaker. The #7 Lady Cobras loss to the Liberty puts them in the sole ownership of the seventh seed. The TCBC Cardinals will be the 8th ranked team going into the tournament 5/6th grade Boys – Link to standings page 5/6th Boys Post Season Tournament Brackets Stars Division Scores: Musketeers Win 31-27 over Redhawks in OT Clippers Win 38-17 over Royals Bethlehem Kings Win 33-25 over Bearcats HCG Cavaliers Win 32-19 over HCG Warriors Athens Athletics Win 54-19 over Jericho Demoliltion Mysterio Win 41-36 over Nazareth Carpenters vs CBC Warriors Win 35-23 over Musketeers Stripes Division Scores: TCBC Timberwolves Win 39-30 over BUMC Wildcats FBC Pacers Win 25-20 over TCBC Cavaliers TCBC Grizzlies Win 35-19 over FBC Olympians TCBC Lakers Win 22-19 over TCBC Blazers FBC Jets Win 24-17 over BUMC Bulls TCBC Kings Win 12-10 over FUMC Commodores 7/8th Grade Girls – Link to standings page 7/8th Girls Post Season Tournament Brackets Scores: FBCM Greyhounds Win 32-8 over SBC Sparks FBCM Cardinals Win 29-15 over CBC Wildcats CBC Bearcats Win 19-16 over FCC Crete Storm Wrap Up: More Upsets…. The #1 Wildcats were upended by the #2 Cardinals. The game didn’t mean anything for the Wildcats but it did for the Cards. If the red birds lost this game they would have been tied with the Bearcats and would have been on the negative side of the tie breaker. The #3 Bearcats seem to have come out of their 3 week long hibernation with their wins last week and tonight. Their win over the Crete Storm bumps the Storm down to the #4 seed and gave the Bearcats a jump to #3. The #5 Greyhounds won easily over the #6 Sparks to finish out the regular season for both teams. 7/8th Grade Boys – Link to standings page 7/8th Boys Post Season Tournament Brackets Scores: CBC Thunder Win 45-43 over SBC Buckeyes SBC Flyers Win 34-24 over HCG Cavaliers SBC Bobcats Win 38-28 over FCC Philippian Earthquake FBCM Falcons Win 33-12 over HCG Bulls FCC Lehi Legacy Win 45-8 over vs FBCM Bobcats FCC Ninevah Rebounders Win 45-18 over FBCM Redhawks FCC Damascus Blinders Win 34-18 over FBCM Bulls CBC Lightning Win 40-39 over SBC Raiders Wrap Up: The Cross Divisional play made things interesting this weekend. Most notably the upset of the #1 and #2 teams from the Stars. In the Stars Conference the only (?) change was in a last minute unexpected shakeup of the 1,2,3 seeds. The #1 Falcons (7-1) won against the HCG Bulls. The CBC Thunder rallied from double digits down in the 4th quarter to hit clutch free throws and pull ahead of the Buckeyes to win by 2.The CBC Lightning won a nail biter of a 1 point game against the SBC Raiders that stayed that way right from halftime. The Lightning-Raiders finish was right down to the final 0.7 seconds left on the clock. The remaining seed in the Stars Conference did not change vs prior weeks. In the Stripes Conference there were no changes in Seeding vs last week as a result of the games today. The only tie break which exists is between the #6 Earthquake and the #7 Blinders. The Earthquake won their head to head matchup so that settles that tie. 5/6th Grade Girls – Link to standings page Scores: TCBC Hawks Win 32-14 over FUMC Lady Cobras Timnah Yellow Jackets Win 30-28 over CBC Lady Liberty FUMC Lady Huskies Win 18-8 over TCBC Cardinals SBC Springboro Sky Win 31-30 over Mt Sinai Big Ten Wrap Up: The Hawks Swooped down on the Lady Cobras taking the win and remaining undefeated to clinch the #1 seed in the 1st round of the Tournament. The fight for 2nd place moves into the Final week. The #2 Yellow Jackets (5-2) and #3 Sky (5-2) both won. With the Yellow jackets Winning their head to head matchup if both teams win next weekend they would finish as they are now at #2 and #3. The Big Ten’s loss to the Sky bumps them into the #4 spot. Lady Liberty (2-5) had a tough 2 point loss today and are tied with the Lady Cobras (2-5). Overall, the Liberty have outperformed the Lady Cobras vs the same opponents but it will mean nothing in the final week if the Cobras can take a bite out of Lady Liberty in their head to head match up. The Cardinals will take to the Sky next week looking for a win against Springboro as we prepare for the tournament 5/6th grade Boys – Link to standings page Stars Division Scores: Bethlehem Kings Win 30-6 over Royals Athens Athletics Win 36-15 over Musketeers Cavaliers Win 29-27 over Redhawks Nazareth Carpenters Win 32-18 HCG Warriors Clippers Win 40-9 over Jericho Demolition CBC Warriors Win 35-22 over Mysterio Stars Division Wrap Up: The #1 CBC Warriors (7-0) and #2 Bethlehem Kings (7-0) both remain undefeated and at the top of the Stars Division. With 3 6-1 teams just behind them, they cannot let up their guard in week #8. The Warriors still hold a tie break edge over the Kings in performance vs same opponents going into week 8. The #5 Bearcats (6-1) tumbled this weekend as they had a bye week but both the #3 Athens Athletics (6-1) and #4 Clippers (6-1) picked up wins. The Athletics hold the edge in W-L vs same opponents so they moved to #3. The Clippers and Bearcats are both 5-1 vs same opponents but the Clippers have outscored those same opponents by more than the Bearcats. The Nazareth Carpenters (4-3) handed the HCG Warriors a loss and are in 6th place now. The Musketeers couldn’t get it done vs the Athletics and fall to #7. The Mysterio (2-5) are in the 8 spot for now, but will look to end the season on a high note vs the Carpenters next week. The Cavaliers (2-5) jumped up this week and are right behind the Mysterio but have a slight disadvantage in score differential against same teams played as the Mysterio. The HCG Warriors and Royals are both 1-6 but the Warriors hold the H2H advantage to sit at #9 and hold the Royals at #10. All three teams play next week against teams from the Stripes conference that they haven’t seen before. Who know what can happen. The Flyers and SBC Bobcats are both 4-3 but the H2H game gives the Flyers the advantage. The Bulls and the FBCM Bobcats are also tied but the FBCM Bobcats H2H game gives them the advantage. The Broncos have a bye next week and finish the regular season 2-6. They will watch the Bobcats and Bulls closely next weekend to see if they might move up. The Redhawks will be working on a non conference win in the final week of the regular season to give them some mojo going into the tournament.
