The #1 Raptors finished up the season with a 38-13 win over the #5 Benjamite Wolves. The #2 Lionesses coasted to a 30-4 win over the #8 Warriors. The #3 Timnah Yellow Jackets stung the depleted #6 Thunder Kittens 25-3. And the #4 Lightning blasted the #7 Sky 32-22. The #1 Bucks enjoyed a bye Saturday to rest up before the tournament starts this week. Meanwhile, the #2 Jericho Demolition battled it out with the #3 Heat this afternoon. The game was tight all the way through but eventually the Demolition doused the flames and dropped the Heat 30-24. The #4 Bethlehem Kings outplayed the #7 Athens Athletics on route to a 34-22 victory. The #5 Average Joes nearly doubled up the score on the #8 Wolfpack, finishing with a 33-17 edge. Finally, the # 6 Timberwolves swept the #9 Green Wave back out to the mighty Great Miami River with a 26-13 triumph. The question on fans minds is how the 4-way tie was broken. Here is the explanation. The Heat, Bethlehem Kings, Average Joes and Timberwolves all finished the season with 4-4 records. The Heat beat all 3 of the other teams so by head-to-head matchup they come out on top. The other 3 teams had 1-1 records vs each other. Comparing the Kings, Joes and T-Wolves records to like opponents resulted in a 3-3 tie, but comparing points scored vs like opponents gave the Kings an advantage, followed by the Average Joes and then the Timberwolves last. And the #6 Sting pierced the #7 HCG Wildcats 32-14 to wrap up the regular season with their second victory. The 7-9th girls 1st round of the tournament will be Monday night. The Shakers eventually shrugged off the Orange and picking up the 36-26 victory and closing out an 8-0 regular season. Oranges are known to be an excellent source of energy, but when the oranges have a doubleheader between the #1 seed and the #3 seed… even Oranges get tired. And that is what happened today. The #3 Damascus Blinders played the Orangemen in the 2nd game of the doubleheader today. The Orange ran out of steam and the Blinders cruised to a 46-18 win. The Orangemen finish the day as the #7 seed. The #2 Philippian Earthquake were tested tonight by their rival, the #6 Nineveh Rebounders. The Quake were still down late in the game before battling back & taking over in the final minutes to finish 44-41. Good games kept on coming today. The Rim Rockers started the day trailing the Storm in the standings, but their head to head matchup gave them a chance to measure up. The #4 Rim Rockers bested the #5 Storm 34-30 to leap frog them in the standings. They will meet again next Thursday in the tournament. The #8 Flyers travelled up to SBC to take on the winless Avalanche, but the mighty snowslide were not calling the season quits just yet. The #10 Avalanche ended the regular season on a high note, picking up a win over the Flyers 43-15. The Avalanche will look to create a winning streak as they move into the tournament this week. The #9 Fellowship Elite also wrapped up the regular season on a high note with a 44-9 how-do-you-do with the #11 Thunder. The Fellowship Elite will have a rematch their home gym rival Flyers in the first round of the tournament Tuesday night. The Sky finally opened up this afternoon and picked up their first win of the season with a 32-12 win over the Warriors. The Warriors will head into week 8 looking for their first win against the #2 Lionesses. The Lionesses let out a loud roar this afternoon with an easy 33-9 win over the Lightning after a couple close games the past 2 weeks. The Thunder Kittens and the Benjamite Wolves battled it out all afternoon eventually going into double overtime. Someone had to win eventually and the Wolves nailed a layup early in the 2nd OT and an extra point later to seal the deal 20-17. The Athens Athletics overwhelmed the Green Wave 39-10 and the Jericho Demolition smashed the Bethlehem Kings 31-19. The one close game in the 5/6th boys division today was a 28-27 nail biter at NFBC. The Wolfpack battled it out with the Heat to pull off a 28-27 victory and pick up their second win of the year. The Wildcats have a week 8 bye to rest up for the Tournament that starts Monday Feb 27th. The Thunder took on the Sting today in West Chester. As is recommended practice when dealing with stings, they remained calm and applied cold pressure to them. That worked and the Thunder finished with a 36-14 win. The Lady Bone Crushers did what they do and played tough defense and good offense. Following that approach they finished with a 41-4 win. The LBC have 1 game left in the regular season but have a lock on #1 seed in the tournament. Both the Storm and the Damascus Blinders brought in the heavy artillery to start the day with a shootout. Unfortunately, only one team could win and the Blinders finished with a 63-50 victory. Not to be outdone the Philippian Earthquake scored 100 POINTS! The Earthquake started out with a 54-20 win over the Orangemen in the first leg of their doubleheader today and followed up with a 46-33 win over the Fellowship Elite. The Shake n Bake & Rim Rockers were up next with another offensive battle. The Shake almost hit the half century mark but fell short with 48 points. That 48 was enough to beat the 39 the Rockers put up and the Shake n Bake finish with the win and a lock for the tournament #1 seed as they head into the final week of the regular season. The Thunder Kitten showed their claws and went after the #2 Lionesses. The Kittens held onto a 1 point lead with 10 seconds left in regulation but the Lionesses found a way to bank a shot in to take a 17-16 lead. The Lionesses held on to take the win. The Benjamite Wolves picked up their second W of the season with a 28-6 win over the Sky and the Timnah Yellow Jackets beat the Warriors 28-10. The Kings are now 3-3 heading into a week 7 game against the Demolition. The Heat pulled off the win in a nail biter vs the Average Joes. Locked in a one-point game late in the 4th, the Heat inbounded under the basket to put the nail in the coffin with an uncontested layup and close out the game 20-17. The Crushers won 32-27 to stay undefeated and take the #1 spot heading into week 7. The NFBC Wildcats picked up their 4th win of the season with a 24-6 over the Sting at Springboro. The Storm will take on the Damascus Blinders next week to The Damascus Blinders tried their best to knock out the Shake n Bake today. They were able to shake them but not bake them as the Shake n Bake outlasted the Blinders and finished 49-34 with a win and 6-0 record heading into a week 7. The Shake n Bake will take on the 4-2 Rim Rockers in week 7. The Orangemen used their mighty vitamin C powers to overcome the wintery powers of the Avalanche 43-32. The Orange head into a tough stretch as they will take on 3 of the top 4 teams in the next 2 weeks. The Flyers had a pair of games today vs the home gym rivals the Rim Rockers and Fellowship Elite. They put on 2 great games, however, they split their games today. They dropped the first game to the Rim Rockers 29-25 but found a way to beat the Fellowship Elite 43-41. With 1.2 seconds left on the clock, the Flyers were fouled on a half court shot. They nailed 2 shots to seal the 43-41 victory. Foul shots matter, kids! After a slow start, the Blinders finished strong and took over in the 4th quarter to win 43-37. The Storm swept up the Avalanche 43-27 to remain undefeated and 5-0 on the season. The Avalanche are still hunting for that elusive W. They will take on the Orangemen next Saturday. The Fellowship Elite enjoyed winning so much last week they thought they would do it again. The Elite visited the Nineveh Rebounders today and fought their way into overtime but the Rebounders were not having it. The Rebounders closed it out in the extra period to take the win 41-39. The Orangemen picked up their second win of the season with a 31-14 victory over the Thunder. The Thunder will take on the Nineveh Rebounders next Saturday in search of win number one. In the Late Game, the undefeated Philippian Earthquake took on the Shake n Bake at North Fairfield looking to remain undefeated and continue their momentum. The Lightning snapped their 2 game skid with a 28-15 win over the Benjamite Wolves and the Thunder Kittens got scrappy with the Warriors to take home a 15-4 victory. Both teams battled it out from start to finish, but in the end, the Earthquake flexed their muscle and held on to win 32-26. The Storm remain undefeated and now climb into the #1 spot with a 38-13 win over the Thunder. The Shake n Bake are the only other undefeated team. Despite their convincing 50-25 win over the Avalanche, the Shake sit at #2 at the halfway mark. Both the Flyers and the Fellowship Elite picked up their first wins today. The Flyers beat the Rebounders 35-27 and the Fellowship Elite nipped the Orangemen 38-36. The furry critters eventually found their way and were able to overcome the Sky taking a 20-6 win. The Timnah Yellow Jackets shut down the Lightning 32-18. The (3-0) Raptors had a decent showing in their home opener today against the Warriors. The Warriors came out aggressive but the Raptors finished with a 33-2 victory. The Benjamite Wolves and Lionesses took a nailbiter into overtime this afternoon. Both teams fought hard but The Lionesses ultimately sealed the 34-31 victory at the end of OT. Lionesses remain undefeated at 3-0. The Heat controlled their game from the start against the Green Wave and cruised to a 39-4 victory. The Bucks sit atop the 5/6th boys division at 4-0 after they held on to win 32-28 over the Average Joes in the week 3 finale. The Mt Sinai Big Ten followed suit with a 34-5 rout of the Wildcats in Fairfield. The Crete Storm struggled early against the Thunder and couldn’t make it up in the 2nd half as the Thunder finished with a 28-9 victory. The Orangemen pulled out their first win of the season sneaking past the Flyers 37-34. The Damascus Blinders had a tough schedule today. They won the front end of their doubleheader with a close 34-30 win over the Rebounders, but they ran out of steam in the later game and came up on the undesirable side of a 50-25 decision against the Earthquake. The Shake n Bake rattled the Thunder 49-6 to remain undefeated at 3-0. Shake n Bake will take on the Avalanche in next week. The Storm engulfed the Fellowship Elite winning 38-27. The Storm also remain undefeated at 3-0 on the year. They will take on the Thunder next Saturday. The Raptors Picked up a decisive 36-4 victory over the Sky and the Lionesses handed the Timnah Yellow Jackets their first loss 14-6. The Benjamite Wolves seized their first win with a 14-4 victory over the Warriors and the Thunder Kittens clawed their way to triumph, outlasting the Lightning 24-20. The winner of “doubleheader day” looks like the Bucks. The Bucks are now 3-0 on the year after torching the Heat 30-11 before rolling over the Green Wave 30-8. The Bucks vs Green Wave was also the Waves 2nd game of the day. In their early game, they were bested by the Bethlehem Kings 43-17. The Average Joes didn’t fare too well with their DH today either. Their opener against the Timberwolves went down to the wire, but the T-Wolves hit a behind the back layup with seconds remaining in the 4th to move ahead 21-19. The Joes could not make up the deficit. Later, in FCC, the Jericho Demolition came from behind late in the game to overtake the Average Joes 31-25. Elsewhere, the Athens Athletics found their groove and overtook the Wolfpack 38-24 to take their first W of the season. The Hamilton Wildcats had a rough opening day, losing 35-0 in their opener against the Lady Bone Crushers and dropping their second game 47-2 against the Mt Sinai Big Ten. Both teams hit critical shots in the 4th quarter to keep the fans on the edge, but in the end, the ‘Bake shaked the Flyers to win 41-36. The Damascus Blinders dominated the Thunder 40-11 and the Philippian Earthquake rattled the Avalanche 60-19. The Fellowship Elite kept things close through 3 quarters but eventually fell to the Rim Rockers 42-25.
